In general, you'll be doing a lot of reading to get your system set up exactly the way you want it. There's a lot of good information in there that would help you to understand. My recommendation would be to re-read the link dank posted above. it's best to just assume that you need the the exact romset for the exact version of the emulator you are running for best results.
Plus, romsets are redumped and refactored for lots of reasons, some more spurious than others. obviously this predates your issue as any FBN romset would already have this change, but just showing how things can change many years after games are initially emulated. That's not the only reason romsets get rebuilt/changed, and not a good logic to understand when you need to update/rebuild romsets.įor example, ALL CPS2 games (so, including AvP) had their copy protection emulated out in 2019, so the romsets were changed for MAME and FBN (then called FBA) in that year, despite those games being emulated for ~decades (via bypassing the copy protection). I'm pretty people who've built the emulator probably have already figured out the game as it is not an obscure game by any stretch of the imagination.
